I am very happy to be able to offer virtual flute lessons during the global pandemic. I have years of experience working with beginning middle school students, advancing high schoolers, college undergraduate players, and adult beginners. If you love your flute, there is a place for you in my online studio!
For fall semester 2020, flute lessons will be conducted exclusively online. This means I can accept students from ANYWHERE in the world! Even if you do not live in the Houston area, we can still learn together online. The exception is complete beginners– you are going to want to have a flute teacher you can go to in-person when restrictions lift.
If you are a music educator looking for a flute masterclass teacher, clinician, or contest adjudicator, please use the form at the bottom of this page to contact me!
“Ms. Lupinek is the best private lesson teacher I have had, and she is the reason why I improve at my instrument every day. She is positive, encouraging, and knows when to give you the push you need to do better in your lessons. I have recommended her to a good number of my friends because I believe she can help you get to the level of flute playing you want to achieve.”~Maggie, 11th grade piccolo student

Teaching Philosophy

I believe that each and every student benefits from private music lessons. At the most basic level, private lessons allow students to have a one-on-one relationship with an adult outside of the formalities of a classroom setting. It is important to me that my students understand that flute lessons are a safe space in a world spinning faster by the day. I teach students to engage and question, and I encourage self-discovery. In lessons, we have fun, we learn, we make music. Oh, and we learn how to play the flute too!
“My daughter has taken private lessons from Ms. Lupinek for the past two years. These one-on-one lessons have allowed my daughter to receive instruction tailored to her needs which has resulted in increased self-confidence with her instrument. Ms. Lupinek has been extremely flexible and even gone so far as to offer to continue lessons during this uncertain time (extended school closure due to COVID-19). I have loved watching my daughter thrive and develop into a confident young flutist!” ~Shanna, 8th grade flute mom
Lesson Materials
I require each of my students to come to their first lesson with some basic items:
- Flute with cleaning rod, swab, and polishing cloth.
- A notebook, folder, or binder dedicated to flute lessons.
- A pencil with eraser.
- A metronome and tuner– either a physical device or a high-quality smartphone app like Tunable
- Required music. View my required book list on Sheetmusicplus.com.
These should be brought to every lesson. We will go from here!
I use Mymusicstaff.com to keep track of my many talented students. Check out torilupinek.mymusicstaff.com for my full teaching website and blog!
