About The Unclassical Musician
The Unclassical Musician is the podcast empowering the next generation of classical musicians to take risks and live a fulfilling life. Each week we dive into topics on the minds of young musicians and come out the other side with a new perspective on life as an artist.
The listeners range in age from current music students up through mid-30s professionals carving out their own career in the 21st century.
The vibe of the conversation is candid, down to earth, and relatable to the listener. Part of the goal for this show is to break down the “stuffiness” around classical music so we can all become better artists for the current times.
About the creator and host, Tori Lupinek
Tori is a professional flutist, flute teacher, clinician, and podcast host based in Houston, TX. Upon leaving an artist diploma program (and after a brief stint in Fairbanks, Alaska), Tori found herself– for the first time in her life–without plans. Some friends in Texas encouraged her to move to Houston to find work teaching privately. Since moving to Houston in 2018, Tori has grown a successful and selective private lesson studio. She is also in high demand as a flute masterclass clinician in the Houston metro area. During the pandemic and ensuing economic downturn, Tori found herself with less work and more time. An avid consumer of podcasts, Tori decided to produce her own show– the podcast she wished existed when she made the decision to leave academia.
